Holidays Taken During School Time

Although we appreciate that some parents have to take their holidays during school time, we feel that this is not always desirable.  Parents are asked not to take children out of school for a ‘long weekend’ or so that they can leave the area early on a Friday afternoon.  Policy only allows for a holiday absence of up to 10 days at the  Head’s discretion.

We would ask that you complete a ‘request form’ [see Appendix I] giving no less than 4 weeks notice, when requiring leave of absence for a holiday.  Holidays taken at the beginning of the school year in September may be classed as unauthorised. Holidays will not be authorised for pupils during test weeks in December, May or June and parents may be liable to prosecution.

Absence will not be authorised without a discussion with the Headteacher for anyone whose attendance is below 95%.
